Wildlife in Africa

Most travelers/tourists to Africa are in search of exotic wildlife and the safaris, most noted in Kenya and Tanzania, boast excellent tourist facilities. With the new democracy, it is hoped that Nigeria will expand its wildlife adventures. The Pandrillus, Fauna & Flora Preservation Society, (Drill Rehab & Breeding Center) is located at Housing Estates, P.O. Box 826, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, 234 (87) 234-31, drill@infoweb.abs.net and Cercopan, 4 Ishie Lane, off Murtala Mohammed Hwy, behind All States Bank and Henss, c/o Housing estate, P.O. Box 826, Calabar, Cross River State, 087 234670.

Excellent briefings are provided at both locations by local Nigerians. Details for the locations follow:

Drill Ranch is networking with the visiting director of the excellent research centre and home for African animals from the Atlanta Zoo. Yerkes primate Centre shares primate activities at the zoo. Their home page is

Hopefully, the expansion of education programs through grants will encourage Nigerian students to become more familiar with their wildlife and conservation concepts.
